10. UniCredit Bank

The only “European” in this top Russian bank in terms of reliability 2016, began to exist in 1989 as the “International Moscow Bank”. In 2007, 100% of the bank's shares became owned by the large Italian financial company UniCredit Group, and it changed its name to the current one. By the way, the largest shareholder of this Italian organization is Aabar Investments PJS, a company registered in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. UniCredit Bank ranks 10th on assets, on 12th on loans, and 23rd on deposits.

9. Promsvyazbank

This bank was founded in 1995, and in 2014 was included in the number of systemically important banks by the Central Bank. Promsvyazbank ranks ninth in terms of assets and deposits, and twenty-first of the top 100 largest in terms of loans.

8. “Moscow Credit Bank”

ICD appeared in 1992 and within three years ended up in the most influential banks in Russia. It opens a reliability rating due to the successful overcoming of the 2008 crisis, entering the top 10 in assets, top 11 in loans and top 12 in deposits.

7. Alfa Bank

Alfa-Bank was able to survive the 2004 crisis (although the shareholders had to help the bank stay afloat by personal means) - perhaps it will be able to reschedule our difficult time. In the top 50 banks of Russia in terms of reliability in 2016, the largest private bank in the Russian Federation is in seventh place in terms of assets, loans and deposits.

6. Russian Agricultural Bank

Another “state” bank, included in the reliability rating of banks in 2016 according to the Central Bank. The order on its creation was given by the President of Russia specifically to serve the needs of the agricultural industry. The bank ranks sixth in terms of assets, and fourth in terms of deposits and loans.

5. Bank of FC "Discovery"

This bank was known as Karina-Bank, then it became the Russian Development Bank and did not survive the financial crisis of 2008. The balances were bought out by Otkritie Holding Corporation - perhaps the country's largest financial group with total assets of more than 2 trillion rubles. In terms of assets, the bank is in fifth place, but in deposits - in eighth, and in loans - in 40th place.

4. "VTB 24"

VTB 24 Bank is the heir to Guta Bank, who prematurely died during the 2004 financial crisis. It was purchased by VTB Bank OJSC, an organization founded in the early 1990s by the USSR Ministry of Finance for the country's foreign trade. Now the Central Bank owns 61% of the shares of VTB Bank, and the latter is the sole shareholder of VTB 24. The bank ranks fourth in terms of assets, but only Sberbank is second in terms of reliability and profitability of deposits and loans.

3. Gazprombank

The third place in the list of banks in 2016 according to the Central Bank is occupied by Gazprombank, a representative of the holding of the same name. In terms of assets, it is second only to first place, and in deposits and loans it occupies a confident third place. Potentially, only one thing can threaten Gazprombank’s customers - that the bank’s employees mistakenly transfer money to them (in 2008 they transferred 4 billion rubles to the account of one policeman).

2. VTB Bank of Moscow

This brainchild of the former mayor of Moscow, Luzhkov, was founded in 1995 as the Moscow municipal bank, and in 2011 it was privatized. The largest stake in Bank of Moscow is held by VTB Bank. The bank ranks second in terms of assets, in fifth place in loans and deposits, and 4 in the rating of mortgage banks.

1. Sberbank

It is unlikely that anyone doubted which bank would lead the most reliable banks in Russia. Sberbank is one of the largest banks both in the Russian Federation and in Europe. It is under the control of the Central Bank, occupying honorable first places in the rating both for loans issued and for assets and deposits.
